Scalp Detox For Healthy Hair
Beautiful hair starts at the root and the key to healthy hair is detoxing the scalp monthly. Deep cleansing the scalp unclogs pores, removes dead skin cells and impurities, and stimulates hair growth. Imagine your scalp is soil and your hair is the lawn. No matter how often you cut and water it, if you don’t kill the weeds, and tend to the soil, it won't grow. Here are 3 natural DIY’s for the healthy, clarified and shiny tresses you’ve always dreamed of.
Baking soda, Oil and Cinnamon
What you need:
2 teaspoons of baking soda
4 tablespoons and extra virgin olive oil
½ teaspoon of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of honey (optional)
This is considered a “pre-poo” meaning you use it before your shampoo. Combine all of the ingredients and apply directly to the scalp. Massage into the scalp to increase circulation and gently exfoliate to stimulate hair growth. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, rinse thoroughly and shampoo and condition like normal.
Bentonite Clay and Apple Cider Vinegar
What you need:
½ cup of bentonite clay
¼ cup of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ cup of aloe Vera gel (optional but highly encouraged to prevent excessive drying.)
Mix ingredients in a bowl and apply to scalp and hair followed by a shower cap. Let penetrate for 20-30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and condition hair like normal. Only use once/month.
Lemon and Cucumber
What you need:
1 lemon
½ of a cucumber
Blender or Food Processor
Probably the easiest to create. Just throw a lemon and half of a cucumber in the food processor until it creates a paste and apply like shampoo. This also alleviates itchy scalp and leaves the scalp feeling cool.
