How this Sister Duo is Building Two Communities with their Unique Accessories Brand

From the fashion capital of the world to the West African country of Nigeria, sisters Chioma and Uchenna Ngwudo are taking the accessory industry by storm with their brand Cee Cee’s Closet NYC. Founded in 2015 after an inspiring trip to their home country of Nigeria, their eyes were reopened to the beauty in the country and its culture after being struck by the craftsmanship of a clutch purchased at a local market. The girls returned to Brooklyn where they were raised with an idea and a mission to be an economic engine for opportunity in Nigeria.

The brand and its designs reflect the celebration of their heritage as black women from New York, and how they unapologetically see Africa through a lens that’s not typical of the western world. Since its inception, Cee Cee's Closet NYC has become a go-to destination for fashionable women who love to add meaningful color to their looks with a pop of West African prints.

Each piece is designed by the sister duo in New York and handmade by artisans in Nigeria. Having their products and accessories made in Nigeria allows Cee Cee’s Closet NYC to have a transformative impact on the lives of their artisan partners as well as support members of their NYC community by hiring them for photography, makeup artistry, and modeling.

Best known for their Ankara headwraps, the brand also offers clothing, jewelry, and handbags. For more information about Chioma and Uchenna Ngwudo or CeeCee’s Closet NYC, visit their website here.
