Adjust Your Crown, Queen

No one anticipated for 2020 to present us with as many obstacles as it did. We were all thrilled to pose for selfies on our upcoming baecations, celebrate our remarkable graduates, spend quality time with friends and family on the beach, and much more! However, while we were all quickly moving forward with our plans, COVID-19 brought all of us to a screeching halt. It is not fun to cancel things that take months or even years of hard work to put together, but unfortunately, many moments were placed on indefinite holds. So what do we do when times feel tough? We take a moment, fix our crowns, and keep moving forward.

Other Doors Will Open

Opportunities are not gone, they will be back when the time is right. You may have been looking forward to a career change or promotion, but COVID-19 put that goal on pause. Don’t be too discouraged. If the company needed that position then, chances are high they will need it once again when hiring freezes are over. Indeed there have been adjustments to business incomes, but they will bounce back!

Self Care is the Best Care

Some people cope best with doing nothing, and others seek to keep themselves busy. Both are okay, but if you find yourself doing nothing for too long, I challenge you to switch up your routine. Remember when you said you wanted to learn a new language or earn that certification? Now is the time. Take advantage of the plethora of free resources that are available to us and increase your skill set. It does not all have to be related to work, in fact, none of it does if you don’t want it to! Learn how to perfect that pineapple upside-down cake, decorate your bathroom that you’ve been talking about for months, or pick up the weights that are collecting dust in the corner. You will find that keeping yourself motivated is like a domino effect to staying positive.

The same can be said in any situation, whether there is a pandemic or not: you’ve got this. Your journey is just beginning, and life is not as glamorous as magazines, celebrities, and the media make it seem. Many obstacles will come in our paths on our way to success, and some will give us a few bumps and bruises, but like Aaliyah said, we’ve got to dust ourselves off and try again.
