Easy Ways to Engage Customers on Social Media
Am I the only one who enjoys social media more when I’m posting for fun rather than when I have to post for promotion? I can post memes and cute photos of my favorite cocktail all day but once I have to post content for my business page I am instantly stressed. Although platforms like Instagram and Facebook are important places to market your brand, there is definitely more to it than just posting nice photos of your products or examples of your services. Here are a few easy and effective ways to engage with potential customers on social media:
Behind the Scenes: Record a short video or capture a series of photos of you in action! Whether that be creating and packaging your products or what your typical work day looks like, part of the reason people love to support small businesses is the personal aspect of it. Show them who they are supporting and all that goes into creating your brand.
Host a Q&A: Jump on live and let people ask questions about your brand, your business journey and your upcoming plans for the future. Half the battle of social media is coming up with content that people are interested in and this allows customers to get the information they are specifically looking for.
Respond to Comments (even the bad ones): If you haven't gone through the comments on your social media, sit down and take the time to do so. If people are praising your brand, thank them! If they have a negative review or a question, respond to them. Ask them what went wrong, how could it be better, apologize. This allows customers to feel heard and know that there is an actual person on the other side of this business who cares about their experience.
How To: Show people how you use your products or how you personally have benefitted from your service. Transparency and authenticity is a huge component of why people trust and stick with one brand over another. Why would I choose to use something that the owner of the business doesn't even use?
Ask People What They Want: As simple as it may sound, asking your customer base what they want goes a long way. Ask what colorways they would like to see next, what other products they need that you should also sell or what additional services you can add to your repertoire.
Share these ideas with your fellow business owners and get to posting!
